If you have been scheduled for surgery, the following information was included in the surgical packet given to you by the nursing staff. If you have any questions about your upcoming surgery, call 318-212-8727.
Pre-admit Information
- Willis-Knighton Pre-admit days are Monday through Friday.
- The Pre-admit Department’s last appoint of the day is at 2:00 pm.
- The process can usually be completed within an hour.
- The hospital will call by 2:00 pm the day before your surgery to let you know what time you will need to arrive the next morning.
- If you do not receive this phone call, please call our office, 318-212-8727, for your time.
- If your surgery is scheduled on a Monday, you will be called the Friday before.
- If you have been given an appointment for surgical clearance, you must keep this appointment or your surgery will need to be rescheduled.
The week before, and leading up to, your surgery
- Stop taking Aspirin, Motrin, Nuprin, Aleve, or Ibuprofen-like substances three (3) days before your surgery.
- Stop taking Meridia, Fastin, Lonamin, Adipex, Amphetamines (diet aids), and all herbal supplements seven (7) days before your surgery.
- Stop taking Plavix and Coumadin seven (7) days before your surgery and notify your primary care doctor.
- You may not consume:
- solid food
- milk or milk products
- citrus juices
- cereal, pudding
- white bread or crackers
- alcohol
- NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT
- Blood pressure medication, except Ace Inhibitors, can be taken the morning of surgery with a sip of water.
