Length of Stay

These are the typical times required for a hospital stay for surgical procedures:

• Open abdominal surgery, approximately one to three days
• Open abdominal surgery with debulking, approximately four to five days
• Robotic or laparoscopic hysterectomy, approximately one night stay
• For most other procedures you will go home the same day

These are the typical recovery periods for surgery:

• Open abdominal surgery, approximately six weeks off
• Robotic or laparoscopic hysterectomy, approximately four to six weeks off
• Laparoscopic surgery not including hysterectomy, approximately two weeks off
• Minor procedures, approximately three days off

You are responsible for obtaining the documents needed for work release for the appropriate amount of days off of work. If you have a question about the amount of time you will be off work, please let us know prior to your procedure. 

Bring your medical leave papers to the office at your earliest convenience. We ask that you allow up to two weeks for these forms to be completed and returned to either you or your employer.
